Balam Acab is a serious favorite of mine right now. I went out and bought his debut Wander/Wonder after Active Child raved about him (his track ‘Except’ was our Sunday Supplement two weeks ago).

It’s hard to believe that ‘Family’ is The Cast of Cheers first proper debut single. The band have been on many an Irish fans radar since they released their debut EP Chariot as a free download on bandcamp back in 2010. They’re a band that all of us felt had an insane amount of potential, so it’s great to see them get a traditional label release. On the back of this news, I spent the evening delving back into Chariot, it’s still sounding just as good and exciting two years later.
‘Family’ is to be released on 20th February 2012 on School Boy Error/Cooperative Music.
Jape has also completed a remix of the track, which you can download for free below.

Monsieur Adi has been popping up quite frequently on my Soundcloud feed over the summer, the first track that caught my eye was his remix of Madonna’s track ‘Get Together’, it amassed a shit load of plays and was posted on his soundcloud page as a free download. What I viewed as a slightly odd remix choice paid off. The track is stunningly beautiful.
Madonna – Get Together (Monsieur Adi Remix)
Over the next few months more and more Madonna remixes popped up, I guess Mr. Adi is a big Madonna fan – or he realized with the first remix that he was on to something and continued to work and experiment on how to give a new lease of life to the best known songs by the Queen of Pop.
It worked. Stand outs for me are the more laid back and sombre reworks. Below is the rest of the remixes, have a listen and let us know what you think. I’m not sure what plans Monsieur Adi has for these remixes – right now it seems like it’s just for fun, which is fine by me. I just hope he keeps doing them.

Dalston based band Teeth (or T3eth? I’m not actually sure what way you’re meant to spell it!), first made their way onto my ipod via their track See Spaces. Since then they’ve gone on to release their debut album WHATEVER. If you like your electronic dance noise then you’ll like this trio.
The main single for the album Flowers has been given the remix treatment by Gross Magic (more on him next week). Sam McGarrigle has worked his magic (see what I did there, cringe!) and turned the track into a stripped back version of it’s former self. Take a listen below.
Toronto’s very own The Weekend remixes Florence + The Machine’s latest track Shake It Out. Taking a rousing anthem and transforming it into a downbeat grove.

Moths uploaded this gorgeous remix of Bon Iver’s Babys to his soundcloud today. Sit back, listen and enjoy. Bon Iver – Babys (Moths Remix) by MOTHS
Ellie Goulding is back on tour in the US as of this week, taking on bigger venues and selling them out along the way. This includes a stop again in Toronto @ Kool Haus on August 1st, which I will be checking out. On the back of this tour Ellie is releasing a Lights Remix [...]
