Reptar are a band that kept me dancing all summer long, with their unique brand of danceable tropical pop on their debut EP Oblangle Fizz Y’all the Athens, GA band are one to watch. They finally announced their full lenght debut last week, it’s called Body Faucet and has a May 1th release date on Vagrant. ‘Sebastian’ is the first single to be released form the album. The more I listen to them and this new track, the more I think lead singer Graham Ulicny must be Ezra Koenig’s musical long lost cousin.

If you google the words ‘humans’ and ‘traps’ you get some pretty odd results, but hopefully you’re here to read about the Vancouver band Humans and their new EP Traps and not something else.
Humans have graced this site before in the form of a Weekend Tunage slot during the summer, that was a while back and their last proper release was in 2010 with Avec Mes Mec so the news of Traps EP which was released yesterday is enough to make this day even brighter.
The first track to be shared from the EP is ‘De Ciel’, which you can listen to below. The band have upped the pace on this track, and it’s a welcome expansion on their sound. It’s reminding me a little of The Hundred In The Hands.

It’s hard to believe that ‘Family’ is The Cast of Cheers first proper debut single. The band have been on many an Irish fans radar since they released their debut EP Chariot as a free download on bandcamp back in 2010. They’re a band that all of us felt had an insane amount of potential, so it’s great to see them get a traditional label release. On the back of this news, I spent the evening delving back into Chariot, it’s still sounding just as good and exciting two years later.
‘Family’ is to be released on 20th February 2012 on School Boy Error/Cooperative Music.

The first time I heard anything by Matthew Dear, it was in remix form – his take on The XX’s track VCR pretty much blew my mind. Since then he’s released Black City in 2010 and now 2012 sees the release of an EP, Headage. The most intruging track from the EP is ‘In The Middle (I Met You There)’ featuring vocals from Jonny Pierce of The Drums.

Just before the new year, Miike Snow gave us the first taste of what their new album might sound like with ‘Devil’s Work’, today we’ve got one more piece of the puzzle: ‘Paddling Out’ – this bodes well for the new album which is titled Happy To You and due out on the 27th March via Downtown/Universal.
It’s with open arms that I welcome Miike Snow back into my music collection. The Swedish group produced one of our albums of the year back in 2009, 51 minutes of solid pop tunage. All of us at The Clink caught them live the same year at one of the Heineken Green Sphere’s gigs – safe to say we were hooked.
Their new track, ‘Devil’s Work’ is a slightly different affair – it’s definitely got a bit more of an orchestral / epic feel to it. There’s also an accompanying video for the track. Watch it after the jump.
The band are currently working on a new album, which will hopefully get a 2012 release.
Sunless ’97 are Alice, Ed, Matthew and Kwes, a fine new band from London. Back in October their debut track ‘Illuminations’ started making the rounds, safe it say it’s now grown on me. This hazy pop tune is well worth sharing to help you kick off your weekend feeling fine.

Michele and Alessandro make intricate electronic pop music to get lost in. I was mesmerized by the above video, and their debut album Things.Yes has since evoked a similar effect. The band are pretty detailed in describing the intention behind their music. Their songs are things, with lyrics holding little importance, it’s all about what the listener feels.
We don’t want to say anything nor teach it. We only want to leave something where anyone can feel or imagine what he wants. And use it as deemed most convenient. This way “the song event” becomes completely collective.
This is the first Italian music project that I’ve been excited about in a long time. Their album was released last week via Monotreme Records, you can get a hold of the vinyl here, or buy the album on iTunes.
