The Friday’s tune comes form Belgium band Great Mountain Fire. This past week I’ve given their album Canopy more plays than is good for one’s health, but it’s ok as the album is that good.
It’s got an indie folk vibe, with some group vocals thrown in for good measure. The album is so damm catchy I found it hard to choose just one song, so instead here’s two songs from the band to kick start your weekend. ‘Crooked Head’ and ‘Late Lights’
Django Django are a band who I’ve only started listening to a lot lately. Their self titled debut album was released in Janurary, and it’s packed full of stick in your brain guitar riffs.
The band played a completely sold out gig last week in Dublin, and it sounds like they lived up to the hype. On the back of that it only seems fitting that their track ‘Default’ is this week’s choice for Weekend Tunage.
‘Waveforms’ is another track from the band work checking out. You can buy their album here.

Niki & The Dove are this weeks choice for Weekend Tunage, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – there’s something in the water in Scandinavia. The caliber of pop music that’s been emerging from these countries over the past few years is damn high. Niki & The Dove have been on many peoples radar thanks to an inclusion in the Sound of 2012. I’m only just starting to get into their music, dark and twisty pop with tribal drums a plenty. Similarities to The Knife spring to mind also.
‘DJ Ease My Mind’ should help kick off your weekend, no nightclub required.
Dead Man’s Bones is the music project of Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields, their debut album (of the same title) was released back in 2009. I was definitely intrigued by this project when I first heard about it, two handsome movie stars making a concept album about zombies and monsters falling in love.
Sounds crazy, but oh boy does it work. I revisited the album whilst traveling this Christmas, and Pa Pa Power is one song I haven’t been able to stop listening since then. It should help close out your weekend on a mellow note.
Check out the rest of the album if you can. Still not convinced? If more convincing is needed then simply watch this.

A couple of reasons for this Sunday Supplement posting. Firstly it’s wicked! I’ve been listening to it, in all it’s wistful wonder, lot’s over the last while. Secondly, I wanted to post an Irish band as we kick off the 6 Nations today against the land of sheep and dirt, aka Wales!
Claire Boucher aka Grimes, is apparently from Montreal, but her voice seems to come from some Electric Fairyland, judging by this and her other tunes. To me this track is like a Beverley Hills Cop remix of some never released St. Etienne track. I like it. It’s a funny one for a Sunday Supplement; it’s [...]
‘Baby’s Arms’ by Kurt Vile is a tender and sweet track that deserves to be played on a lazy sunday. It’s taken from Vile’s album Smoke Ring For My Halo which was released in 2011.
For the price of your email address you can download the track for free below.
At The Clink we mostly try to bring you quality tunes that are brand spanking new, but Weekend Tunage and especially Sunday Supplement give us the chance to look back a couple of years and pull out some either forgotten or never before checked out gems. Like this one, ‘Don’t Mind Me’ from Waterford’s O Emperor.
