How about a seriously feel good tune for this Friday’s Weekend Tunage? ‘Little Talks’ seems to be the perfect song for today. I’ve been whistling this all week long, it’s the first song I’ve been playing when I wake up every morning and I can’t help but leave the house with a giant grin on my face.
‘Little Talks’ is the latest single from Of Monsters and Men’s debut album My Head Is An Animal. Powerful folk pop with the emotion and shouty group vocals to content with the likes of Arcade Fire. The band made their American television debut on Jimmy Kimmel last week, check out their performance below.

Mumford and Sons are taking a bit of a different approach to festivals this summer, they’ve decided to set up their own mini one: The Gentlemen of the Road Tour. This special tour sees the band stop off in Galway on June 9th for a one day mammoth show featuring Mumford and Sons, The Vaccines, Willy Mason, Zulu Winter, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Correspondents.
Sounds damm good right? If you agree then you’re in the right place as we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the Galway show. The band have really taken a hands on approach with the show, curating everything from the line up to the food & drink at the show. They’re keen on supporting the local scene and making the show a truly unique experience.
“We want to stop off in towns not usually heavily toured by bands, and celebrate the people, food and music that inhabit them. We’re keen to promote the town’s local businesses, and we’ll be using the local bars and venues for aftershow parties, whilst working closely with the local people to get everyone involved in making these shows spectacular. “
More info on the show can be found here: http://www.gentlemenoftheroad.com/galway
Here’s an old favorite from Mumford to get you in the mood for the show, we’ve seen them live before and they are a must see.
The new HBO show Girls brought me to the discovery of this honest and melancholy song by The Echo Friendly. Jake Rabinbach and Shannon Esper make up the Brooklyn duo, and ‘Same Mistakes’ seems to be the only single that’s been released by them thus far.
If you’re in depression mode as tomorrow is Monday and the weekend is over already, crank this up and wallow in your sadness, at least there’ll be some decent music sountracking it.

It’s funny how you can miss the boat with something that’s right under your nose and then when it enters your consciousness you think, how can I have missed that. That’s what happened with Diagrams.

Stanigold’s debut album Santogold was the soundtrack to my summer in ’08, and I’ve been a massive fan of the lady since. This week saw the release of her follow up album Master Of My Make Believe, if you haven’t had the chance to check it out – I recommend you get on it, your ears will thank you later. ‘Disparate Youth’, on of the lead tracks from the album is a tune that has been floating around for a while, a blissful slow burning track with attitude in the lyrics to match. The perfect kick start for your weekend.

Forget The Song is the name of the first track in this doubled up SS, and ironically I did. I started this post last week and then got waylaid, but I got it back from the backroom of my mind and thought I’d share it, one week on, hence the reason you’re getting two tunes today.
This friday’s weekend tunage is a remix by the ever wonderful RAC. Theme Park are a band we first featured back in 2011, and a plenty of times since then. Their latest single ‘Two Hours’ is the first track to be released off their forthcoming debut album, but the song we’re featuring below is the remixed version of the track by RAC. It’s got a laid back party vibe perfect for a Friday. ‘Two Hours’ is pretty darn cathy in it’s own right, check out the original version of the single after the jump.

Just under 3 weeks ’til these Alabama cats shake The Academy 2, and I can’t wait! Singer Brittany Howard‘s voice is solid soul, but also shifting soul, from Aretha to James Brown to Janis Joplin.
Their just released debut Boys and Girls is going down a storm and their live shows are among the most talked about around right now. Here’s the title track Boys and Girls for you this Sunday morn.
