DANIELS have been directing up a storm lately, putting together music videos for the likes of The Shins & Manchester Orchestra along with a slew of advertising. The talented duo have probably completed their biggest production to date with this video for Foster The People’s ‘Houdini’. Ever wondered the lengths a record label would go to if one of their bands died before a big show? Watch and find out.
If you haven’t had a chance yet to check out Django Django’s self titled album, take the time – it’s well worth a listen. ‘Default’ was the first taster, and ‘Storm’ is the second single to be released from the album on May 7th. Check out the video above, directed by Focus Creeps.
Weekend Tunage came and went this weekend without a sound, but I didn’t forget about Sunday Supplement! This Sunday’s tune choice has a bit of a holiday feel to it, as I’m off to the sun for the next 7 days. Listening to Beirut always leaves me with a smile on my face, images of places afar and care-free journeys. ‘Vagabond’ is one of my favorite tracks from last year’s The Rip Tide. Enjoy.
We’ll return to normal posting in a week!
‘Interference’ is good. Really fucking good. You know that feeling when you hear a snippet of a song for the first time and you have to find out who the artist is and subsequently anything they have released to date. That’s what it felt like when I heard this track for the first time. Turns out the band behind it, Breton, are a group of sickeningly talented lads.
Breton are: Roman Rappak, Daniel Mcilvenny, Adam Ainger, Ian Patterson and Ryan McClarnon, a collective of filmakers & artists from London who eventually turned to music as a means to soundtrack their visuals, this then organically grew into a fully fledged band. Creative HQ is BretonLABS, a disused bank where they record and film all their pieces. Their debut album Other People’s Problems is getting a release on Fat Cat Records on March 26th. A day later, March 27th the band play The Academy 2 in Dublin. Tickets are on sale now, an absolute steal for 12 Euro.
‘Man Made’ is the latest music video & new track from intricate pop weavers Clock Opera. The video is along the same vein as the video for ‘Once and For All’, expect this time around the center focus is on a girl who’s got a bit of a Freddie Mercury vibe to her, make of it what you will!
Ways to Forget is released on 23rd April on Moshi Moshi / Island Records. Pre-order here.
Django Django are a band who I’ve only started listening to a lot lately. Their self titled debut album was released in Janurary, and it’s packed full of stick in your brain guitar riffs.
The band played a completely sold out gig last week in Dublin, and it sounds like they lived up to the hype. On the back of that it only seems fitting that their track ‘Default’ is this week’s choice for Weekend Tunage.
‘Waveforms’ is another track from the band work checking out. You can buy their album here.
Clock Opera once again tugging at the heart strings. I am so beyond excited for their debut album Ways to Forget, due out April 9th.
Check this out folks, the brand new Anna Ginsberg video for BBC‘s ‘How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep’; from Different Kind of Fix. It’s absolutely beautifully crafted and brings a little smile each time I watch it. Check it out, have a day dream to yourself and then go get moon soup for lunch!
