The name Ships may seem familiar – Chris posted about this new Dublin band and their super catchy tune ‘You’re Gonna Feel It’ a few weeks back, and since then a bit more info has been shared with us about the release of the song itself – which it deserves to be shared. Turns out it’s part of a limited double A-side 7″ vinyl release from Synth Eastwood, that will also feature fellow Dublin band I Am Cosmos and their track ‘Take What You Want’.
Synth Eastwood is a collaborative art group that has been knocking around Dublin for a while now. I remember attending a few of their art exhibitions back when I was living in Dublin, always a good time. This is their first foray into music and they’ve picked two mighty fine up-and-coming bands to start with.
Both the tracks have a definite dance-floor feel. Take a listen to the I Am Cosmos tune below, and Ships again after the jump. Launch party for the single release is being held at the Sugar Club on Friday 25th May (tkts are €10). Both bands will play on the night, along with DJ sets by David Kitt and Lil’ Dave.
The first 50 people in the door will receive a crisp new copy of the record with artwork supplied by John Cowhie. Bargin!
1904 is the newest track from The Tallest Man On Earth.
I’ve been a fan of Sweden’s Kristian Matsson ever since The King Of Spain. This track is more of the same folksy goodness from the solo artist, which is not a bad thing in my opinion and I enjoyed listening to it.
This new release is the first track from the forthcoming album, There’s No Leaving Now, to be released on 11 June. The Tallest Man On Earth is also playing in Vicar St on 24th October, 2012.

The band have really taken a hands on approach with the show, curating everything from the line up to the food & drink at the show. They’re keen on supporting the local scene and making the show a truly unique experience.
“We want to stop off in towns not usually heavily toured by bands, and celebrate the people, food and music that inhabit them. We’re keen to promote the town’s local businesses, and we’ll be using the local bars and venues for aftershow parties, whilst working closely with the local people to get everyone involved in making these shows spectacular. “
More info on the show can be found here: http://www.gentlemenoftheroad.com/galway
Here’s an old favorite from Mumford to get you in the mood for the show, we’ve seen them live before and they are a must see.

Toronto, Jazz, Hip Hop, 3 Kids and a Pig’s Mask = ?. Sounds like a random list, but these things plus so much more make up BadBadNotGood, a jazz fusion trio that are currently causing a bit of a stir here in Toronto.

It’s always great to see a band from Ireland that I love come and play in the city that I now live, Toronto. It makes home seem not so far away, even if it’s only for a few hours. Canadian Music Week (CMW) is taking place in Toronto 21-25 March and Fred and coming over to Toronto to play it. Yay!
The band have got two gigs lined up:
March 20th @ The Mod Club
March 22nd @ The Rivoli (Music From Ireland Showcase, on stage 11pm)
The Rivoli gig is on a Friday, and I’ll be heading along for sure and dragging a handful of Canadian’s with me so they can witness first hand what real feel good pop music should be like. Fred’s latest album Leaving My Empire is also getting it’s Canadian release this month on March 20th via Sparks Music.
The video below you give you a taster of what you can expect from a Fred gig, shot by Miles O’Reilly

Reptar are a band that kept me dancing all summer long, with their unique brand of danceable tropical pop on their debut EP Oblangle Fizz Y’all the Athens, GA band are one to watch. They finally announced their full lenght debut last week, it’s called Body Faucet and has a May 1th release date on Vagrant. ‘Sebastian’ is the first single to be released form the album. The more I listen to them and this new track, the more I think lead singer Graham Ulicny must be Ezra Koenig’s musical long lost cousin.
Take a listen to the track below, are we’ve also got an exclusive free download of it here.
There’s also a album preview video below, which features one other new track.

A couple of reasons for this Sunday Supplement posting. Firstly it’s wicked! I’ve been listening to it, in all it’s wistful wonder, lot’s over the last while. Secondly, I wanted to post an Irish band as we kick off the 6 Nations today against the land of sheep and dirt, aka Wales!
