The Tallest Man On Earth – 1904

1904 is the newest track from The Tallest Man On Earth.

I’ve been a fan of Sweden’s Kristian Matsson ever since The King Of Spain. This track is more of the same folksy goodness from the solo artist, which is not a bad thing in my opinion and I enjoyed listening to it.

This new release is the first track from the forthcoming album, There’s No Leaving Now, to be released on 11 June. The Tallest Man On Earth is also playing in Vicar St on 24th October, 2012.

    Beautiful Bon Iver B-Side

Bon Iver‘s latest single is Calgary, which is really good (check it out here), but the b-side on the single is this lovely number – I Can’t Make You Love Me/Nick Of Time. Originally recorded by Bonnie Raitt, it was written about a man who drunkenly shot at his girlfriend’s car and when asked in [...]

Bank Holiday Monday Supplement: Aimee Mann

In the same spirit of a Sunday Supplement, today I’m doing a Bank Holiday Monday Supplement. I was reminded of this tune yesterday by a friend. It was originally featured on the movie Magnolia (a very good film, watch it if you can), when its sung by the cast in a pretty powerful montage. Its [...]

    Sunday Supplement: Freelance Whales

How much do I love Freelance Whales? A lot. This latest track is a cover of a 1980′s Devo tune, Girl U Want. This cover version definitely has its own sound compared to the original, which wouldn’t find itself in a Sunday Supplement slot in a hundred years! [Audio clip: view full post to listen]

    Jape Is Back

Richie Egan gets around. I’m not saying he’s a man slut. He’s got his hands in many pots – The Redneck Manifesto and Vision Air being the other two bands he’s involved in. But Jape are due to release a new album in September, called Ocean Of Frequency. To attract our attention before then, Jape [...]

    Weekend Tunage: Smith Westerns

So we kind of forgot about Weekend Tunage last week – sorry to the fans for that. Hopefully we’ll make up for it this week. Today’s Weekend Tunage ain’t exactly new, but its new to me. Smith Westerns are a band hailing from Chicago, and their debut single is appropriately enough entitled Weekend. It was [...]
