The Clink’s Electric Picnic Picks – Friday

Ah, Friday – the first day of the festival. You either go all out on the first night and somehow survive on adreline for the next 3 days, or take it easy and get into the full festival spirit on the saturday. Either way there’s plenty on the line-up to keep you occupied. Here’s our must see’s:

Star Slinger – Little Big Tent @ 6.15pm

Fixers – Swimmhaus Johannesburg (Star Slinger Remix) by Star Slinger

Remix maestro Star Slinger is sure to provide a chilled and beats filled start to the festival. Judging on his recent musical output over the last few days, it’s bound to be a good one.

Warpaint – Crawdaddy Stage @ 7.45pm

LA post-punk band Warpaint released their debut this year, 9 tracks of hypnotic goodness – their mesmerizing quality is sure to translate live.

Santigold – Electric Arena @ 9pm

Electric Picnic 2008, Santogold (as she was previously know as), was one of my highlights of the festival. She was amazing. All’s been quite from Santigold since earlier this year when she released Go. Expect to hear some new tunes, they’re a long time coming.

Shit Robot (Live) – Little Big Tent @ 12am

If you fancy ending your first night at EP dancing you socks off, then Shit Robot needs to be on your list. It might go a little something like this.
