This week we are dishing up a double helping of quality tunage to set you on your way through days 5-7 of this week; one from a new kid on the block, and one from a legend who’s been around long enough to remember when the block was just fields!
The reason we’re doubling up is that some of us lucky Clinkers are off to see both these bands over the weekend and we’ll follow up early next week with reviews for both shows, can’t say fairer than that?
The first track is I Am Lion a bass heavy monster from Cast of Cheers, the Dublin quartet currently noising up venues and making a bit of a name for themselves. They play Whelan’s tonight, and I for one can’t wait for that. Like Woody from the original cast of Cheers these guys aren’t going to be content with working in crappy bars and are starting to move on to bigger and better things.

The second 54-46 Was My Number is a from legendary reggae maestros Toots and the Maytals. Toots Hibbert and his band, along with Bob Marley and the Wailers, put Jamaican music on the map. Check the power of the vocals, like a tuneful thunderstorm. Toots will be tearing it up in Tripod tomorrow night.

It’s shaping up to be a crackin weekend, aurally ingest these tunes, then go get your weekend on.
